Couples Relationship Intensives

When Weekly Conversations Are Not Enough

You still care about your relationship, but something between you feels different.

Conversations may quickly turn into arguments. Important concerns remain unresolved. One partner may push for connection while the other withdraws. You may love each other and still feel lonely, misunderstood, unappreciated, or emotionally exhausted.

You may also feel that brief sessions don't allow enough time to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and work toward meaningful change.

A Couples Relationship Intensive offers focused, protected time to explore the patterns affecting your relationship, address the concerns you have both been carrying, and create a practical plan for moving forward.

What Is a Couples Relationship Intensive?

A Couples Relationship Intensive is an extended, structured coaching experience designed for couples who want concentrated time to understand their relationship patterns and begin making intentional changes.

Rather than trying to address one concern within a traditional session, an intensive allows time to:

  • Review your relationship history

  • Identify recurring communication and conflict patterns

  • Explore the emotional needs beneath surface disagreements

  • Understand how each partner experiences the relationship

  • Address accumulated hurt and disappointment

  • Recognize individual contributions to the relationship dynamic

  • Practice healthier communication and repair

  • Clarify relationship priorities

  • Develop a customized action plan

  •

An intensive does not promise to resolve every concern in one day. It can, however, provide the time, structure, and focus needed to develop clearer insight and begin a more intentional process of change.

A Personalized Process Built Around Your Relationship

No two couples have the same history, needs, strengths, or challenges.

Your intensive begins before the day you meet.

Both partners complete an in-depth assessment and pre-intensive reflection work. This information helps identify the primary patterns, concerns, strengths, and goals that should guide your experience.

The assessment may explore:

  • Relationship history

  • Current concerns and areas of strength

  • Communication styles

  • Conflict and repair patterns

  • Emotional connection

  • Attachment and relational needs

  • Trust and transparency

  • Personality differences

  • Family-of-origin influences

  • Intimacy and affection

  • Parenting and household responsibilities

  • Financial concerns

  • Current stressors

  • Shared values and future goals

  • Each partner’s readiness for change

Your responses are used to create an individualized intensive agenda. We structure the day around what your relationship needs—not a one-size-fits-all formula.

The Intensive Framework

Understand

We begin by identifying the patterns beneath the conflict.

You will explore what happens before, during, and after difficult interactions, including the triggers, assumptions, emotional needs, and protective responses that keep the cycle going.

Repair

You will begin addressing unresolved moments, accumulated hurt, and the ways each partner has experienced the relationship.

Repair does not mean ignoring what happened. It means acknowledging impact, accepting responsibility, communicating with greater emotional honesty, and beginning to rebuild safety.

Re-Pattern

Insight alone does not create change.

You will practice healthier ways to communicate, respond to conflict, express needs, set boundaries, and reconnect after difficult moments.

Plan

Your intensive concludes with a practical relationship action plan.

The plan identifies your priorities, agreed-upon changes, between-session practices, and recommended next steps so the work can continue after the intensive ends.

Depending on your needs and selected format, your Couples Relationship Intensive will include:

  • Pre-intensive screening for both partners

  • An in-depth relationship assessment

  • Individual reflection questionnaires

  • A customized intensive agenda

  • Structured joint coaching conversations

  • Individual segments when appropriate

  • Communication and conflict-pattern exercises

  • Guided relationship-repair conversations

  • Curated worksheets

  • Journal and reflection prompts

  • A Couples Intensive workbook

  • Scheduled breaks

  • A written summary of key themes

  • A personalized 30-Day Relationship Action Plan

  • Recommendations for continued coaching, therapy, or other support

  • A follow-up session or check-in when included in the selected package

Your exact inclusions will be reviewed before registration.

Choose the Format That Fits Your Needs

Half-Day Intensive

A half-day intensive provides concentrated support around a clearly defined relationship concern or recurring pattern.

It may be appropriate for couples who want to:

  • Improve communication

  • Understand a specific conflict cycle

  • Address an important decision or transition

  • Strengthen connection

  • Clarify relationship expectations

  • Develop a focused action plan

[

Full-Day Intensive

A full-day intensive allows additional time for assessment review, deeper pattern exploration, guided conversations, skill practice, and relationship planning.

It may be appropriate when:

  • Several concerns are affecting the relationship

  • Hurt or resentment has accumulated over time

  • Emotional disconnection has become more established

  • Trust needs focused attention

  • The couple needs more time than a traditional session can provide

  • Both partners are prepared for concentrated relationship work

The full-day format includes planned breaks to help both partners remain present and emotionally regulated.

Who May Benefit From an Intensive?

A Couples Relationship Intensive may be a good fit if:

  • Both partners are willing to participate.

  • You remain invested in understanding the relationship.

  • You are prepared to reflect on your own contribution to the pattern.

  • You want more time than a traditional session provides.

  • You are open to structured guidance and honest feedback.

  • You are willing to complete assessments and preparation beforehand.

  • You are ready to practice new skills after the intensive.

  • Your relationship is stable enough to participate safely.

  • You understand that an intensive requires effort from both partners.

An intensive can also be preventive. You do not need to wait until your relationship is on the verge of ending.

Couples may use an intensive to prepare for marriage, navigate parenthood, adjust to a blended family, manage career or financial transitions, reconnect after a demanding season, or strengthen a relationship that is already important to them.

When an Intensive May Not Be Appropriate

A Couples Relationship Intensive may not be appropriate when there is:

  • Active domestic violence

  • Coercive or controlling behavior

  • Fear for personal safety

  • An acute mental health crisis

  • Unmanaged substance misuse

  • An undisclosed active affair

  • An unwilling or forced participant

  • A need for psychiatric stabilization

  • A situation requiring specialized clinical, legal, or crisis intervention

Both partners complete screening before we approve an intensive.

If an intensive is not appropriate, you may receive recommendations for therapy, crisis support, medical care, legal assistance, substance-use treatment, or another specialized service.

Infidelity and Trust Repair

A Couples Relationship Intensive may support couples coping with the aftermath of disclosed infidelity or another significant breach of trust when both partners are willing and able to participate safely.

The process may help you:

  • Understand the impact of the betrayal

  • Create expectations for transparency

  • Address difficult questions in a structured environment

  • Identify behaviors that support or undermine safety

  • Process anger, grief, guilt, shame, and uncertainty

  • Clarify whether both partners are prepared for repair

  • Develop immediate and longer-term priorities

  • Determine appropriate next steps

  •

The intensive cannot guarantee reconciliation. It can provide structured space for honesty, accountability, understanding, and clearer decision-making.

An active affair that has not ended or has not been disclosed may make an intensive inappropriate.

What Happens After the Intensive?

The intensive is an important beginning—not the end of the work.

Afterward, you will receive a summary of key themes, agreed-upon priorities, and a relationship action plan. You may also receive worksheets, journal prompts, communication exercises, and recommendations selected for your relationship.

Continued support may include:

  • Follow-up relationship coaching

  • Individual coaching

  • Couples therapy when clinically appropriate

  • Individual therapy

  • Prepare Enrich

  • Digital relationship resources

  • Referrals to other qualified professionals

The goal is to help you carry the insight and momentum from the intensive into your daily relationship.

Couples Intensive or Ongoing Relationship Coaching?

A Couples Relationship Intensive may be right for you if you need concentrated time to explore patterns, address accumulated concerns, and establish a focused plan.

Ongoing relationship coaching may be a better fit if you want to build skills gradually over six to eight sessions with reflection and practice between meetings.

Some couples begin with an intensive and continue with coaching. Others start with ongoing coaching and later decide an intensive would help.

Your consultation and screening process will help determine the most appropriate format.

Virtual and In-Person Options

Virtual Couples Relationship Intensives are available to eligible adult couples throughout the United States.

Limited in-person intensives may be available in Florida. We discuss availability, location, scheduling, travel considerations, and accommodations during the consultation process.

Couples Relationship Intensives are private-pay coaching services and are not billed to health insurance.

Your total investment will depend on:

Her approach is warm, direct, structured, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. Tammy helps couples move beyond surface arguments to understand the emotional needs, expectations, experiences, and interaction patterns underneath them.

The goal is not to determine who is right or wrong. It helps both partners recognize the pattern, accept responsibility for their part, and develop a more intentional way of relating.

Your Relationship Deserves More Than Another Unfinished Conversation

If you are tired of repeating the same arguments, carrying unresolved hurt, or feeling alone in your relationship, an intensive can provide protected time and structured support to start something different.

You do not have to solve everything in one day.

You can start by understanding the pattern, gaining emotional clarity, and creating a practical plan for what comes next.

Understand. Repair. Re-Pattern. Plan.

Payment plans and financing options are available.

Important Information

Couples Relationship Intensives offered through It’s Just One Chapter Coaching are educational, goal-oriented coaching services. They are not psychotherapy and do not provide mental health diagnosis, clinical treatment, crisis intervention, or services intended to replace therapy.

Participation in a coaching intensive does not establish a therapist-client relationship with Tammy Austin or Journeys End Counseling.

An intensive may be emotionally demanding and does not guarantee reconciliation, relationship repair, or a particular outcome.

If you are experiencing domestic violence, coercive control, fear for your safety, an acute mental health crisis, or another emergency, a couples intensive is not appropriate. Call 911 in an emergency, call or text 988 for immediate crisis support, or contact a qualified local professional.
